Green Smoothie Cleanse

We all go through different phases in life, and some are healthier than others. Well this past phase has been rather unhealthy, so I have decided to do a green smoothie cleanse. My mom has done it before and it is well recommended. *Please note that I am not doing this for weight loss, but as a way to get rid of the toxins in my body so that it can better digest nutrients.

What is a green smoothie cleanse?

I am so glad you asked! During a green smoothie cleanse, you typically drink three smoothies – one for breakfast, one for lunch, and one for dinner. Each cleanse is different, but the one I am doing has the recipe in the book for that day’s concoction. It is usually a blend of some greens, water, fruit, and flax seed.

During this time, you are not supposed to have anything unhealthy such as caffeine (goodbye coffee), sugar, and carbs. I like to drink decaf tea during the cleanse if I want something warm.

“Focus on getting healthy, and the weight loss will follow. If you’re doing the cleanse for fast weight loss, you’re totally missing the point!” J.J. Smith

Speaking of tea, every morning and usually one other time of day you drink a “detox tea”. This also helps with the cleaning process.

Day 1

So today marks the first day of my green smoothie cleanse! Today’s smoothie was Berry Green.

I also made sure to drink my Detox tea this morning while I was getting ready for work.

I use the Yogi brand Detox tea!

Here are the before and after pics of my smoothie making. I like to make mine the night before so I can get extra sleep in the morning. 🙂

This makes three servings, though I did not pour them evenly between the three jars, so I will have to do better next time.

I will make sure to snack throughout the day on healthy snacks, drink lots of water, and make sure to stay active during the week.

Here is to day one!
